MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope Santa was good to everyone.
Everybody knows the song "The 12 Days of Christmas". Now I personally think this song is VERY unrealistic. For one thing, no one I know, not even a 'true love' would give somebody 12 gifts in a row; plus, even if you DID give them 12 presents, you give it all at once, not on 12 different days!! Anyway, I don't want to type out the entire thing, so I'm just going to write what the gifts were on the different days:
1st day: a partridge in a pear tree
2nd day: two turtle doves
3rd day: three french hens
4th day: four calling birds
5th day: five gold rings
6th day: six geese a-laying
7th day: seven swans a-swimming
8th day: eight maids a-milking
9th day: nine ladies dancing
10th day: ten lords a-leaping
11th day: eleven pipers piping
12th day: twelve drummers drumming
Now this song really annoys me. Example A: what's with all the birds?? Doves, hens, birds... why not just buy a canary from the pet store and be done with it? Example B: this song is so repetitive!! 11 pipers piping- well no kidding! What would the pipers be doing? Baking? Swimming? Example C: why on earth would your loved one give you nine ladies dancing? If you're the male, you don't want nine ladies dancing around him, and if you're a woman, who cares about other women?? And finally, Example D: what's with the really old-fashioned wording? Seven swans a-swimming- why do you need the 'a' before the verb? I guess they just needed it to fit into the beat. So, as you can see, I'm a bit picky. But you'll see in later posts that I have a bone to pick with a lot of different songs!
wow celeste, u crack me up!!!!
